After 2 1/2 years battling with a SimpleTech unit, which refused to stay connected, I decided to buy a replacement HD to keep my 10,000+ photos. After doing some research, I chose this unit and I must say that so far, I am very happy with it. My Dell recognized it right away. The unit is quiet and access is very fast.
