I was skeptical about purchasing this hard drive after reading some of the reviews about it being delivered DOA, but I decided to chance it anyway. After a few weeks the drive still works perfectly. The setup was extremely simple, as all you have to do is plug it in. Unfortunately, it sat in my mailbox for most of a very cold day (about 10 degrees Fahrenheit), but it sill booted up and worked fine. I've also kept it on and running for a few days at a time and it never gets too hot. But in general, I'd recommend this drive and I'd also consider purchasing an additional one if the need ever arose. Here are some quick thoughts:
Pros:
-Low price.
-Easy design & user friendly.
-Power switch, which allows you to turn it off w/o unplugging it.
-Easily switched between computers.
Cons:
-The USB cable that's included is only about 2ft. long. I recommend buying a longer one.
-Low price in electronics sometimes translates to low quality. But fortunately it seems like most people have positive experiences.
-USB transfer speed is slower than firewire.
I'd also recommend purchasing an extra power cord from the manufacturer if you plan on making this a mobile drive. That way you can keep one with the device and keep one plugged in at your desktop and you wont have to climb under the desk to unplug it every time you'd like to take it somewhere.
