From the box and hooked up to desktop in no time. I'm not a fan of the brushed look, but to each is own. Like most revievers stated, the location of the white light and the connections should have been thought of more by the manufacturers. With all that said, still....its 1TB of storage, and you can't beat it for the price. Walmart couldn't even beat Amazon's price. They shipped fast.
