I bought this external drive as a backup for our home server that houses all our personal files, including over 50GB of pictures and movies of our baby boy (the main thing we didn't want to lose) We have it plugged in all the time and set a script to run an auto-backup nightly. The hard drive does what it does: hold data. It does it well. We like the feature that it can stand up on its side, for space saving. And with 1TB of storage, we should be covered for a few years!
