Shop For Iomega Prestige 1 TB USB 2.0 Desktop External Hard Drive 34275

I honestly wish I could give this product 0 stars. I used it a total of four times over the course of six weeks. It was stored in a padded case, always upright, treated very gently, always ejected properly, etc, yet the fourth time I plugged it into my computer I heard the infamous "click of death" and the drive started beeping. None of the computers in my house recognized the drive. I had (idiotically) transferred all 5,000 of my photo files onto the drive, where I then planned to burn them to CD, so I freaked out when this thing stopped working. I took it to a local computer repair shop and they had it for a week and sent it back, referring me to data recovery specialists in Boston, who gave me a quote of $500-2600 to get the data off the drive and told me to estimate towards the higher end for a 1TB drive. Luckily, about 90% of the files were saved elsewhere and recovered, so all in all this turned out to be a waste of $100 and a lesson in how to better save files (and a reminder never to buy any iomega product again). Since my window for returning this has expired, I'm trying to figure out how I'm going to dispose of it. Throwing it out the window is particularly tempting at the moment....I realize that external hard drives aren't immortal, and that maybe I got a dud, but biting the dust after only 6 weeks and with 5,000 photos? That's just unacceptable.Get more detail about Iomega Prestige 1 TB USB 2.0 Desktop External Hard Drive 34275.
