I have several external hard drives and this one is certainly near or at the top. It's quiet, a decent size, doesn't have any extra junky software on it to configure and take up space (I just use it for storage, not for backup), and although it gets moderately warm, it doesn't seem to produce an extreme amount of heat without a fan. It sits in a simple plastic holder which looks insubstantial at first, but holds the drive very solidly in position. This drive seems to be about as fast as my other externals or maybe slightly faster. I highly recommend it. Get more detail about Iomega Prestige 1 TB USB 2.0 Desktop External Hard Drive 34275.
