Iomega Prestige 1 TB USB 2.0 Desktop External Hard Drive 34275 Review

This drive operated flawlessly for three to four months until the Drive suffered what seemed to be a harmless fall (about 18" off the ground). The drive is supposed to handle such falls, and is rated for 350g shocks, but this killed it. Now it will no longer boot up, and simply beeps every five seconds for a few minutes until it gives up. I opened that packaging to find that the heart of the unit is a Seagate 1.5TB drive (ST31500341AS, model 7002.11). If you do a search on the web you will find that these drives are plagued with poor reliability. I will give this unit a two star rating since it operated well before the fall, but I would would be wary of purchasing another unit since it seems many other users have had problems with the unit. Too bad, because the capacity was wonderful.Get more detail about Iomega Prestige 1 TB USB 2.0 Desktop External Hard Drive 34275.
