Not sure if it was the Iomega Prestige 500GB external drive or me but the first week or so that I tried to use it after installation, was not smooth. For one thing, the drive seemed to think that everything I was doing on the pc had to pass through it, which slowed my down big time. You know how sometimes you install new software or a program and by default, if you don't pay attention and uncheck all the boxes, the darn thing installs itself as the default device for all your needs? The next thing you know, all the programs you have become used to, aren't in the game and you have to into the new installation and find the place where you can unselect all those defaults! Well the Omega drive was acting like that on my pc. Eventually, I experimented with which USB port to hook it up to and I found that by attaching it to the right port, the thing behaves itself and has become a valuable storage asset. Go figure.
