As usual you get what you pay for here. I bought two of these simultaneously less than 10 months ago, one works completely fine and easy as advertised and the other is spent already (both on Windows XP).
Of course, I can't say with 100% confidence that one died due to product deficiency or a malfunction on my end. But, I would bet the former given my usage rate of electronics and whatnot.
