Plugged into my MacBook OSX version 10.5.8, Time Machine popped right up. It formatted the drive to the appropriate format for Mac. Backed up 103GB in about 45 minutes (not sure if that is fast or slow). Very easy to use, will not know true value until MacBook hard drive crashes.
